This can be especially useful where industrial hemp is being sold to smoke and there is a need to verify whether a sample is true cannabis containing THC or CBD hemp.

The test works by using a chemical reagent contained in a glass ampoule that reacts with the cannabinoids in the sample to produce a clear colour change. A pink or purple result indicates that the sample contains mostly CBD, while a blue result shows that THC is the dominant cannabinoid. The reaction can then be compared against the included colour chart, making the result easy to interpret and giving a simple indication of whether the hemp or cannabis being tested is CBD- or THC-dominant.

Like all reagent tests, this kit is intended to give an indication rather than guarantee the full contents of a sample, and it does not rule out the presence of other substances. In cases where hemp or cannabis may have been tampered with synthetic cannabinoids, it is recommended to use this kit alongside a dedicated Synthetic Cannabinoid Test. For best shelf life, the clear glass ampoule should be stored in a cool, dark place such as a fridge or cool cupboard, and after testing the ampoule and any leftover sample should be disposed of carefully.
