The Ecstasy EZ Test Kit uses Marquis reagent, the original test for MDMA detection, to indicate the presence of Ecstasy/MDMA and similar substances such as MDA, MDE, and MBDB. It will also react to a wider range of compounds including (Meth)amphetamine, 2C-B/C/I, DOB, DOI, DXM, Methylone, Butylone, and Naphyrone, making it a broad first-step test for samples where the contents may not be clear.
When a small amount of sample is added to the ampoule, the reagent produces a colour change that is compared against the included chart and information sheet to help indicate what substances might be present. Because Marquis is a broad-spectrum reagent, some colours can correspond to more than one substance. For example, MDMA and MDA both produce a dark purple reaction, so a second test such as Robadope may be used where further distinction is needed.
This kit is especially useful as an initial identification test because it reacts across a broad range of substances rather than focusing on just one. That versatility makes it a practical starting point for checking samples sold as ecstasy or MDMA, with the included colour chart helping to interpret reactions and identify when a more targeted follow-up test may be appropriate.
